The development of Corporate Social Responsibility within the context of policy-making has, above all, a double meaning for Hera.
In the first place, selection of corporate strategies by assessment and balancing of the legitimate interests of all stakeholders. As objectives, efficiency, quality, safety, and respect for the environment, the area and its community must go hand in hand with each other.
Secondly, we must consider the essence of the concept of responsibility. Responsibility must pervade all day-to-day corporate decision-making procedures, just as it must also pervade all the main internal management instruments (business plan, budget, bonus system, certification systems, internal controls, and, lastly, the Sustainability Report. The Sustainability Report is an instrument by means of which Hera can report on performance and set sustainability objectives for the future.
Our belief is that orientation of day-to-day management in line with the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility is a prerequisite both of sustainable development and enhanced corporate competitiveness.
Hera's commitment to achieving sustainable development cannot be divorced from adoption of forms of dialogue with, and involvement on the part of, our main stakeholders. Of particular significance are the Hera actions relative to generating involvement and participation on the part of communities hosting high environmental impact plants.
Indeed, it will be possible for Hera to become an actor of social change above all if it manages to develop a virtuous relationship, based on dialogue and exchange, with the areas in which it operates. This is a vital consideration for a company such as Hera, which aims to receive the approval of stakeholders by creating wealth and wellbeing while also respecting the interests of stakeholders and the environment.
